Just-A-Cache # 5
A longer walk than most in the area.
A VERY large container that should be easily found. We took the rare opportunity to cross country ski back to this location when placing it so if you have a pair gathering dust in the garage rafters, and weather permitting, it's a real nice approx. 2 mile round trip. If it's a hot summer day when you read this, just the thought of a cold winter day may cool you down. A real nice, maybe a bit challenging, mt bike ride too.
Suggested parking is/was at 42 05.020 / 088 13.845 - although many are not a fan of the 'scene' at this parking area. Alternate, and now preferred, parking available at lot on Penny Rd. a bit NE of the cache although it is usually closed in winter..
Many caches can be accessed at this forest preserve. Parking area can be a bit weird at times but no more so than any other forest preserve parking area. There are other forest preserve parking areas that this cache can be accessed from.
You should be able to hike, ski or mountain bike to this one.
If you haven't logged Illinois(and one of the countries) Oldest cache yet (around since May 2000), you can stop on the way back. It's GC28 - Beverly. It is also a fairly large cache container so bring your larger trade items for these caches.
