This is a Travel Bug trade cache, but can be "used" as a normal cache.
There is a large square 2 quart tubber ware container with a log book. All I left was a single Travel Bug "CT Compass." Since it is a nice, long hike I tought I'd make this mostly a travel bug cache but anyone who wants to leave things other than a travel bug are obviously welcome too.
It is a nice 3 mile hike up hill; but it is a slow steady up hill and enjoyable if you are in decent shape. The trail is very well defined; actaully it is an old road so it is wide. I saw many species of birds and 3 elk when I reached the carin at the top which you can read more about in the hints if you wish.
Since it is a long hike I highly recommend printing both the Hints and Photo just in case; if you are "against" hints and photos just don't read then unless you get up there and GPS starts to give you problems.
To reach the parking for this take Rd 1051 off of Rte 101, which is about 4.5 miles south of Yachats. Drive about 2+ miles on this gravel road and park where there is a large open area ... it looks like the road may contiune off to the left but it really doesn't. There is a fence with an official Oregon State Forest sign .. you hike begins here. The cordinates for parking are: N44 15.264 W124 05.640.
As always please be careful of the vegeation when you leave the trail. Please be careful not to disturb the area around the cache as it may "give it away" to future seekers.
