In the early summer of 1833, the summer before the "Stars Fell," an osage war party attacked an undefeated Kiowa camp. The camp of islandman A'D'Ate principle chief of the Kiowas consisted of women, children, the elderly, & a few warriors hunting buffalo at the time. The islandmans band went from Saddle Mountain through the mountains to the camp site early on morning. The osage raiders struck the camp without warning & the Kiowas were ambushed. They were outnumbered so they couldn't take up a defense against the raiders. It was estimated about 150 Kiowas were killed in the massacre. When the warriors returned to the camp they found the camp destroyed & the bodies with their heads missing. They found the heads in the camps cooking pots.
The cache is the size of a band-aid box with a few small trinkets, logbook, & pencil. Please make sure the lid is back on tightly.
