Geocache Description:

Located along the Bighead River in the Beautiful Joe Conservation Area.

Beautiful Joe was an abused dog that lived in the pink house near the beginning of the trail. Marshall Saunders stayed in Meaford with the family that rescued Beautiful Joe. Saunders wrote an autobiography about the dog that became the first Canadian book to sell a million copies. For more information visit www.beautifuljoe.org

Parking and start of trail is at N44 36.173 W80 35.787. You can either park at the beginning of the Trail or across the road in Beautiful Joe Park. The hike to the cache is around 400m and can be done any time of the year. Snowshoes would help when there is heavy snow. The cache was placed in the winter but you should be able to take children that are 3 or 4+ in with you. The container is an 8 x 1.5” round metal container.
