Geocache Description:

Located in Old Short Hills park, next to Greenwood Gardens in Short Hills, this cache is named after the Green Man, Spirit of Nature. Each stage is a medallion in his likeness. From the earliest times the ancient pattern of planting, growth and harvest was supported by rituals and charms designed to ensure the yearly cycle continued. One of these representatives of the natural world was the Green Man, who can be seen to represent humankind's connection with the earth.

Coordinates lead to the first Green Man medallion. There are a total of three. On its back are coordinates to the next stage. (view picture below). Fourth stage is an ammo can with various goodies, including the Green Man logbook, a pen and a camera. Please photograph your group! Take Old Short Hills Road to get to the park entrance. The park was once an estate but is now a non-profit organization. The Gardens are not open to the public until April, but the cache is actually located in the Old Short Hills Park (which is open and on public land). There is no need to climb any fences or venture onto private property. Private property is clearly marked by new signs. Any others are obsolete. Please donot remove the medallions and rehide the cache carefully for others to enjoy.
