This cache was assembled at the Peninsula
Cache-In on February 21, 2004. A large number of cachers
contributed items for the cache. Ajetpilot and Blue Heron
took on the task of coming up with a hide that was worthy of
all the nice people who attended the event.
We don’t advise using the above coordinates
unless you (a) have a boat or (b) can tread water for a REALLY long
time. Even then, you won't find the cache there.
The real coordinates are:
N
4XºXX.XXX
W 12XºXX.XXX
The “X’s” may or may not represent
the same number, as you’ll soon discover.
Step #1: Arrange the X’s in three groups of four,
like this:
X
X
X
X
Step #2: Within each of the three groups, number
the X’s as follows:
X1 X 2
X1
X2 X1
X2
X3 X
4 X
3 X4 X3 X4
Note:
X1,X1,and X1 may
represent different numbers.
Step #3 For the actual numbers, you’ll need to
visit some cache pages by cachers who attended the
Cache-In.
RED GROUP. Go to
“Oddity Park Micro Cache” by Blind Umpire (GCG5HM)
The coordinates you’ll find are:
N 4 X1º 2 4. 9
X28’
W 1 2 X3º X48. 2 0 0
IMPORTANT NOTE:
3/31/06
At some point in the past
year, the coordinates for this cache were altered. Until we
can find another cache with coordinates that will produce the
appropriate numbers, we'll just GIVE you the fact that
X2 above should be 2 (not
4).
(Thanks to Pasha for bringing this
problem to our attention!)
BLUE GROUP. Go to
“Pathways & Passages” by Skoogie (GCGAF4) This cache has
been archived but can still be accessed by using the
waypoint.
The coordinates you’ll find are:
N 4 X1º X2 8. 2 8
3’
W 1 2 X3º 3 4. 4 6
X4’
GREEN GROUP. Go to
“Cache, Tactical Night—Mission Three-Alpha” by Criminal (GCHHHG)
This cache, too, has been archived but can still be accessed
by using the waypoint.
The coordinates you’ll find are:
N 47º
X1 7. X2
X3
3’
W 1 2 X4º 3 3. 1 1
9’
Now, one last detail. While the order of the
numbers WITHIN each group is important, the order of the GROUPS is
“flexible.” Depending upon how you order the groups, you can get
six different possible locations for the cache. Some of these
locations will clearly be ridiculous. (There aren't a lot of
caches in the middle of the North Pacific.) Others will
yield a location that is SOMEWHERE in Pierce or Kitsap Counties.
Which is the correct one? That’s up to you to figure out! It
shouldn’t be too difficult if you keep in mind that the cache is on
public land, though not accessible 24 hours. We anticipate
that you will be able to solve the entire puzzle, including
figuring out the correct location, from the safety of your own
computer. May we suggest Maptech
MapServer.
