A moderate hike on a north Scottsdale mountain to find a cookie tin.
You can see the well-traveled trail from the north along Lone Mountain Rd.
Park at the intersection of Lone Mountain and Hayden Roads, approximately N33°46.212' W111°54.506', and head up to the summit cairn.
Do not stray into no-man's land to the west of the mountain!
There are a couple of 'viewpoints' along the way to stop and catch your breath if needed, but the view from the top is the best. You can see the Estrellas, South Mountain, Black Mountain, and Pinnacle Peak, just to name a few landmarks. When you reach the top, feel free to carefully add a stone to the tower/cairn! Then head down the trail to the west for a bit, and then follow your GPSr to the cache hidden in typical Arizona desert mountaintop style. The cache is named for the first-finder's prize, a small gift box I bought years ago, but never got the chance to give, 'till now! Hopefully some young lady will get to enjoy the contents.
