Geocache Description:

KLAMATH HISTORY LESSON #1
This cache is part of the Klamath History Lessons series!

On this very site, on Jan 16th in the year 8,463 BC at 4:13 pm, the last Woolly Mammoth in Klamath County died.

His name was Dimbo and he was sorely missed by his friends. There were several dung beetles that were so upset they fasted for several days. On the upside many of the local scavengers held a week long party, feasting and drinking, following Dimbo's demise.

There are many theories as to what caused Dimbo's untimely death but there is one fact often forgotten. Dimbo had been drinking with a bunch of crows the night before and was heard muttering "I can fly" as he stumbled toward the cliff.

I hope you enjoy your journey back in time and look for more history lessons in the future.
