Geocache Description:

An easy 2-part multicache, based on a little-known bit of Davis history.

At the first location you'll find a historical monument, which will lead to the cache within easy walking distance. The final coordinates are:

      N 38º 31.ABC W 121º 45.DED

where:

      A is the number of letters in Captain Poole's first name.

      B is the number of letters in the name of his boat.

      C is the last digit of the year when the monument was dedicated.

      D is the month when the monument was dedicated. (Jan = 1, Feb = 2, ...)

      E is in the triangle.

Nearby parking on campus can be expensive. There's free 1-hour parking about 1/3 mile west, near N 38º 31.810 W 121º 45.770. There used to be a gap in the fence on Old Davis Road near N 38º 31.900 W 121º 45.356 but fence repair seems to have closed that up. There is a "drive way" at N 38º 31.690 W 121º 45.434 where you can probably park for a few minutes as long as you don't block the gate. But be sure to pull across the sidewalk since the street is posted for no parking.
