This 3 step multicache is located on Bald Pate Mountain in the town of South Bridgton. Parking can be found on Rt 107, N43 58.231 W070 42.555.
This Cache will bring you to, and through, a little known set of hiking trails in a beautiful section of Maine. Bald Pate Mountain is public land that is held in trust by the Loon Echo Land Trust. There are about 10 miles of trails, covering three distinct peaks, but any one of these peaks can be easily reached in 15 - 20 minutes of gentle walking. The total distance for finding the cache will be about 3-4 miles. The first 2 caches are plastic peanut butter jars with red tops, with the next set of coordinates written inside. The final cache is a 1 gallon plastic mayo jar (CD's wont fit) with a log kit and trinkets for trade. This area is great for winter activities such as snow shoeing and XC skiing, but snow WILL hide the caches.WARNING! Bald Pate Mt. is a great place for hiking with children and dogs, BUT there are parts of the trail, including where the cache is, that can be VERY dangerous in wet or icy weather. Please use caution. Also, hunting is allowed, so wear your orange.Be sure to stop in the parking area to grab a map that will give you details of the history and area of the park.
