Geocache Description:

A regular cache placed on the hill above the village of Stockton. It is within a wooded area (adjacent to Great Ridge), but there should be no problems with GPS reception as there are numerous clearings within the vicinity of the cache.

There are several parking options for this cache, they all involve a walk of between 1.5 and 2 miles (round trip).

N51°07.187 W002°02.169
Limited parking for 1 car only, extreme care required entering and exiting this point (as off busy A303). This is the easiest walk - but please take care parking.

N51°08.119 W002°03.756
Several parking spots on the side of a no through road, accessed from Stockton to Warminster road.

N51°07.906 W002°03.897
End of same no through road, parking for 2 or 3 cars.

There is no need to leave the track to find the cache. From car parking areas please keep to 'roads used as public paths' and byways.

To get to the cache (particularly from the latter two parking spots) involves walking up a steep hill (hence the terrain rating). However, that said, this is a very scenic area and an enjoyable walk. The cache is hidden in an area of extreme beauty with very unusual blossoming trees and potentially lots of deer. Depending on the route you take, on a nice day there are some beautiful views across the Wylye Valley.
