7 December 05 - The second stage has disappeared, so I have made
this a two stage cache and reworked the worksheet.
Make sure you use Revision 2 of the
worksheet to find this cache.
This is a multicache of two stages. The first stage is a micro
containing only a Japanese 5 yen coin. You will use the coin and
information on a worksheet to determine the coordinates for the
final stage, which is a conventional ammo can geocache. Total
walking distance (direct) from the parking lot (N39° 03.834' W094°
28.225') through Stage 1 to the cache is less than 0.2 miles.
To solve this cache, you will have to do the following:
- Translate foreign numbers on a Japanese coin to normal
digits.
- Convert the Japanese system of expressing the year into the
conventional (AD) year numbering system.
- Perform addition and subtraction of numbers that are four
digits or less.
Use the wacky math worksheet at the links below to help you
determine the coordinates for the cache. YOU CANNOT LOCATE THE CACHE WITHOUT THE INFORMATION ON THE
WORKSHEET. The worksheet is presented below in MS Word
and PDF formats.
Stuff on Money #3 Worksheet
(Rev 2)
Terrain is gentle slopes with some
thick underbrush, and can be muddy in places. Bushwhacking
required. There is dense poison ivy in spots, but it is avoidable
if you're careful. Do not cross any fencelines on the north or
west sides of the park, or cross the dirt road on the south
side.
This cache replaces the Stuff on
Money #1 and #2 caches, which have been removed. Finders
of those caches may also log this one, as it is in a completely
different park.
