Geocache Description:

DOLWYDDELAN - 'Meadow of the little Irish Man'.

He arrived here almost 1500 years ago and helped to build the church St.Gwyddelan. The church was moved to its present location by Meredith Wynne who lived in the Castle and later built a
Long House in the Cwm. The remains of which have recently been excavated.

In St.Gwyddelan church there is a carving on an oak panel, of a two headed dragon. The local legend says this friendly dragon, who swam up the Conwy from the sea, lived in the river Lledr close to the village, where it played and splashed around causing the village to flood. So the villagers captured the dragon, bound it with ropes and took it to a high mountain lake, where it could cause no further harm.

This is a four point multi cache. You will be taken North, South, East and West of the start point, then on up to the Dragons Lair.
A foot bridge across the Lledr is said to be where the Dragon "splashed around".
A foot bridge near 'Blue Bog Rock' is where the Dragon is said to have crossed the stream on its way to the
"High mountain lake".

Starting at the car park indicated by the above lat/long add the date that is on the river Lledr bridge to SH71742 = EASTINGS.
To the left of the lychgate at St Gwyddelan add the date on the stone to SH51239 = NORTHINGS.
This will give you the COORDINATES of the first cache location, Blue Bog Rock.
Both the above dates have four DIGITS!

Lorraine, Holly and I were helped by four fellow Geocachers (Pete, Elaine, Murphy and Fleece) whilst setting Dragon Fields up. Thanks.

Have fun and enjoy the views, we did.

Good walking boots, map and compass are needed. The entire route is on footpaths and tracks. The area around Blue Bog Rock is very wet – even in the Summer, there is an ancient wall here - no need to move any stones, just feel!

This is not a buggy friendly cache.

Final cache location is a Dragons Lair and is shared by Trolls, tread carefully and keep your feet dry! The theme to the cache is Dragons, could you try to keep to the theme. There is an Archeological site near the final site! Diolch/thanks.
