To learn the importance of this date and the cache area, go to
this link: http://www.sandiegohistory.org/journal/99summer/presidio.htm
The hill above you also has historical importance, it "has
served as a seasonal home for the Kumeyaay, a fortress for the
Spanish, and a public park for the Americans."
The cache is located in the stone wall. You're looking for a
slide container attached to the bottom of a rock, log only, bring
your own pen or pencil. Be sure to check out the historical markers
nearby and hike up the pathway to visit the site of the Presidio
and California's first colonial mission. Enjoy,
D!
