Westside Trail system is one of the area's finest!
Mention Top of the World to just about anyone who hikes or bikes this side of town and they know just the spot you are talking about.
Can be reached from trails from at least three sides. I like parking on Rattlesnake (wonder how it got that name?). To get there, go west on Placer, right on Towerview and right up the gravel road, Rattlesnake. Park on one of the side, dirt pull-outs. Go up the road until you have to put your bike in the lowest gears and take a left on a well marked trail, half-way up the road-hill. Just keep going up and you will find the trail system that traverses the ridges west of Redding, the Westside Trail.
Top of the World? For west Redding, this is almost it! The views are to die for. Tell us here, what you remember the first time you arrived at these vistas.

Come from the north, off Lower Springs Road? Catch the trail at N40 34.595 W122 27.046. This is the low end of this trail, right where it meets a residential street. Go South along this well traveled trail but be aware, bikers love this and travel fast on this stretch. This will take you past Le Tour de Westside as well, but you need to visit "World" to get the number before opening "Westside."
