Geocache Description:

The Appalachian Trail (AT) passes through some of the rockiest areas of this state, thus hikers have nicknamed it “Rocksylvania”. This is a three part multi-cache, established for two purposes. Purpose One- To show the hiker three beautiful/interesting locations. Purpose Two – To verify the nickname used above.

The cache is located in State Game Land 80 (SGL-80). The AT passes through SGL-80 but is south of the location of all three caches. Cache #1 and Cache #3 are at scenic viewpoints. We will let the attached photos explain what cache #2 is all about.

The total distance hiked in setting up this cache was about four and a half miles. Over half the distance was bushwhacked. Part of the way we followed existing trail that were not well maintained, and part of the way we followed a utility right of way.

Warnings:
1. Rocks are slippery and dangerous when wet.
2. Hunting in area - use caution and wear orange in season
3. While hiding the cache on March 24, 2004 we had poor GPS reception through most of the hike. Reception at the three actual cache locations was good. Note that this was made during a non-foliage season.
4. Not recommended for children
5. Rattlesnakes spotted in area on 06/23/04

Notes:
1. Cache is dog friendly (Athletic dogs only).
2. There are no restrooms or 7-11s in the area.
3. It took us a little less than five hours to hide the caches. Allow plenty of time to complete.
4. Caches #1 and #2 are recycled Waterboy With Wife Trademarks. That is they are 8 oz empty water bottles with a set of coordinates inside the bottle. They should be read without opening the bottle.
5. Cache #3 is an ammo box.
6. In the immediate vicinity of each cache there is a Waterboy With Wife trademark bottle of water. (Not necessarily valid after the first finder.)
7. For those cachers who are not fully familiar with the use of expletives it is recommended that you brush up before attempting this multi-cache.
8. To hide this cache we parked at N40º31.963’ W076º16.920’. The road leading to this parking area is a little rough. Please note that there are other parking areas available.
9. While hiding this cache we passed the cache named “high country”. Other cache in the area are “Hochste GebirgscRegion Der Berks Grafschaft” and “Five Hundred Steps”.
10. A map of this section of SGL-80 in PDF format is available at (visit link) Please note that SGL parking area that we used is not labeled on this map.
11. Wear long pants while bushwhacking.
