Located at 8300 feet elevation in the Medicine Bow National Forest, near Blair Picnic Area. Generally rough trail with some rocky off trail.
First find by the Les Cache Team! Nice job!
Downgraded the terrain difficulty from a 3 to a 2.5 after comparing to other caches. It is still a semi-rocky hike at higher elevation, so come prepared.
Winter note: Winter in Wyoming can be a long affair. This cache IS accessible in the winter, but you may not be able to drive all the way to the parking area described below. If you are alone, don't get stuck in a drift! Cache is in an area protected from the worst weather, but bring along warm clothes. Winter makes this a 2/3.5.
Driving directions - from interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie, take the Vedauwoo exit (also a great place, worth checking out). Head south off the exit and take the frontage road that parallels I80 westbound. Take a right onto Blair Road (a couple of miles from exit), it becomes dirt and can be washboarded. About a mile and a half from the turnoff, you will come to the Blair Picnic area. Trailhead starts here. Be sure to pay the day pass fee! At the far end of the picnic ground go through the gate and follow the trail that heads straight back. Hike about a half-mile, past a rock wall, and just past the "Teepees" you'll head off trail. This is where it gets fun! (See clue and pictures if you NEED hints.) It's in a green ammo can.
