De lunchcache is een wandeling (of eventueel een fietstochtje) van ongeveer 4 kilometer op en rondom de campus van de Universiteit Twente (UT). The lunchcache is a stroll of approximately 4 km at and around the campus of the University of Twente.
De cache brengt je door een gevarieerd gebied en langs een aantal nostalgische plekjes van DigiMike en GeoGrrl. Wat ons betreft is het de ideale wandeling voor tijdens de lunchpauze (van een uur), iets wat wij ook regelmatig gedaan hebben.
De tocht start op de coördinaten: N 52.14.694, E 006.51.060. Op deze plek kun je eventueel je vervoersmiddel parkeren en een lekker lunchpakketje inslaan. Je kunt deze plek ook bereiken met het OV: neem dan op station Enschede Centraal of Enschede Drienerlo de bus naar de UT.
Rondom WP 1 kun je meteen beginnen met speuren:
- Het nummer van de lunchpakket-verstrekker is AA.
- Er rijden twee bussen over de campus. Het nummer van de bus vanuit en naar Wesselerbrink is B, het nummer van de bus vanuit en naar Hengelo is BC.
Loop vanaf hier in de richting van WP 2: North 52.14.(A+B+C/2)A(A-A), East 006.51.0A(A+C/2). Steek hiervoor de weg over en neem dan het wandelpad.
Onderweg naar WP 2 zijn ook broodnodige getallen te vinden:
- Het licht schijnt helder (hint!) op het ‘traditionele 2 weken na Koninginnedagfeest’. Het getal van de ketel is D.
- Nederland is klein, denk groot. Vanaf de campus kun je naar Den Haag fietsen, en natuurlijk ook weer terug. Het getal achterop de heenweg is E, het getal achterop de terugweg F. Het nummer van deze tocht is G.
- Voordat je deze getallen kunt gebruiken moet je nog even rekenen: H = E – F – A*G*G – (A+D)
Vanaf WP 2 gaat de tocht door het bos richting North 52.14.H, East 006.51.AD(2*G) (WP3).
- Bij WP 3 is een water/gas-getal te vinden. Tel bij dit getal 400 op en je hebt I.
Vanaf WP 3 vervolg je de wandeling naar WP 4 met de coördinaten: North 52.14.I, East 006.51.(2*G)(A+B)(2*G).
Vanaf het vierde WP loop je in de richting van WP 5: North 52.14.(I+53), East 006.51.(G-D-B)(A+C/2+D)G. LET OP: (hier lezen sommige geocachers niet goed) steek hiertoe schuin de weg over en ga het campusterrein weer op. Neem dan het bospaadje aan je rechterhand. Je loopt nu langs het trialterrein van de Motorsportgroep. Gedurende dit deel van de wandeling zijn er nog vier getallen te vinden/berekenen:
- Pas op met oversteken. De meeste automobilisten rijden hier veel te hard. Hun wettelijk toegestane snelheid is J.
- Op een opvallende plek (volgens sommigen is deze plek niet zo opvallend; voor hen een spoiler: urg ae ivaq wr ibbe urg gevnygreerva, bc qr pnzchfteraf) heeft een plantsoenwerker zijn sporen achter gelaten. Tel alle cijfers uit zijn telefoonnummer bij elkaar op en noem dat K.
- L = 2 * (J+K).
- M = (A*C) + (E-F)/5 + (G+D+I)
Nu heb je alle informatie om de cache te vinden. Deze ligt namelijk op de coördinaten: North 52.14.M, E 006.51.L. Op dit zesde waypoint zie je een treurende getuige van het wel en wee van alle campusbewoners en –bezoekers. De cache heeft zich ongeveer 5 meter hierachter verstopt.
PS: om weer naar het startpunt te lopen vervolg je het pad richting WP 1.
Start at the coordinates: N 52.14.694, E 006.51.060 (WP 1). At this place you can park your car or bike and buy yourself a lunch. You can also reach this spot by bus from central station Enschede or Enschede-Drienerlo to the University of Twente. At WP 1 you have to collect some numbers:
- The number of the lunchseller is AA.
- Two busses drive over the campus. The number of the bus that drives from and to Enschede-Wesselerbrink is B. The number of the bus that drives from and to Hengelo, is BC.
Walk from WP 1 to WP 2: North 52.14.(A+B+C/2)A(A-A), East 006.51.0A(A+C/2). In order to do so you cross the road and follow the footpath. On your way you will find soms other numbers:
- The light is shining (spoiler!) on the ‘traditional 2 weeks after Queensday Party’ (sticker). The number of the kettle (ketel in Dutch) is D.
- The Netherlands is small, but think big. From the campus you can bike to The Hague, and also back again. The number on the back of the sign for outward journey is E. The number on the back of the returnjourney is F. The number of the route is G.
- Before you can use these number, you have to calculate a sum: H = E –F –A*G*G – (A+D)
Arrived at WP 2, continue your journey through the forest, in the direction of: North 52.14.H East 006.51.AD(2*G) (WP3).
- At WP 3 you will find a een water/gas-number. Add 400 up and this will be I.
From WP 3 go to WP 4: North 52.14.I East 006.51.(2*G)(A+B)(2*G). At WP 4 walk in the direction of WP5: North 52.14.(I+53) East 006.51.(G-D-B)(A+C/2+D)G. Attention: before you do so, immediately cross the street, into the campusterrain. Take a small forest track on your right. You now walk around the domain of the Motor Sport Group of the University of Twente. During this part of the stroll, you will find/calculate three other numbers:
- Be careful when you cross the street. Many motorists drive far too hard. The legal maximum speed is J.
- A parc worker left his traces, after crossing the street, by writing down his telephonenumber. Add these numbers, this is K.
- L = 2 * (J + K).
- M = (A*C) + (E-F)/5 + (G+D+I)
You now have all the information to find the cache. You can find it at the coordinates: North 52.14.M East 006.51.L (WP 6). At this point you will find a weeping witness of all what happens at the campus. The cache is hidden 5 meters behind this witness.
PS: To go back to the startingpoint, just follow the path towards WP 1.
