Geocache Description:

This will be a commitment of time to do. Bring a lunch, the final spot is a nice place for a picnic.

This could be considered a biathalon. It is your choice You can walk from the very start (in which case it is not) or you can drive the first part, and walk the latter part. If you choose to walk, the stages are along, or near the North Country trail. The start is at a trail head.

Stage one are the coordinates given on this page. When you find stage one, you will know the coordinates for stage two.

Stage two: This is where you should park. Look for something short (shorter than tall grass) When you find stage two, you will know the coordinates for stage three. However on your way, walking to stage three, get ready to interpret things differently. (You might want to change the units of your GPS receiver to DD MM' SS.S").

Stage three: The point of interpretation. Add the northing to the seconds of stage three's north coordinate. Subtract the westing from the seconds of stage three's west coordinate.

Stage four: We come to boundaries. Read the signs carefully. Obey them. The North Country Trail crosses the corner of another nation's land. You do not have a passport, and if you are caught not following their rules, they may take what you have with you away from you. Do not drive your car on this land. They say they will, and can, impound your car on the spot. If you read all the signs with care, you will find the numbers you need. Take the northing number and subtract 69.2. Add the sum to the seconds of stage four's north coordinate. Take the westing number and divide by 10. The result is the seconds of the next coordinate.

Stage five: Johnny Appleseed may have planted these. You are looking for something small, yellow, round, and flat. Please put it back so it fits snugly, and does not fall/blow out.

Stage last: It is a round plastic container with a blue lid. Container is fastened down, be gentle with the plastic that might be brittle. This container is too small for trade items. Just WNW of the cache are the remains of an old farmhouse. (All you will see is the depression in the ground where the foundation used to be.) They are more likely the ones who did the planting. The cache is hidden in the middle of a bush which is a tell-tale sign of an old homestead.
