Barnard Creek Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

BlueRajah: I am archiving this cache to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. Please notice that I asked you some time ago to check this cache, and no action was taken. I had hoped that the cache may be replaced, or a note placed that you were going to go check on this cache in the near future.

If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the next three months please contact me, and assuming it meets the guidelines, I will be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

"Log only" micro cannister. Avoid private drive and utility access nearby.

This creek and the road below it played a major role in the floods of '83 for Centerville. Rushing water eroded the earth beneath the street and the road sank far enough in some places to make driving vehicles out of the sink holes an impossibility. The cache is placed in a drainage basin designed to mitigate high water flow. Barnard Street is now concrete and is designed to act (if necessary) as an above grade river with a large drainage grate placed at the bottom of the street to channel water flow under Main Street and prevent traffic problems and the spread of flooding. The grounds at Jennie P. Stewart Elementary are designed to be an enormous catch basin.
