Dolly Parton Statue

Sevier County Court House, Sevierville, Tennessee

The local country doctor, Dr. Robert F. Thomas, delivered Dolly on Jan. 19, 1946, near Locust Ridge, Tenn. (Sevier County). He was paid a sack of cornmeal for his work.

Sevierville claims the birth place of the famous Dolly Parton. Dolly came from a large family and is one of eleven children. Her first real break came when she performed at the Grand Ole Opry at the young age of 13. She was also featured on local radio stations. She then teamed up with Porter Wagoner to co-host his television show. This helped to bring her notoriety. Eventually, her musical career grew and she went out on her own, making several musical hits, her own television show, and starring in several big budget movies.

Dolly loves the Tennessee mountains and invested her time and energy into opening up a first class theme park featuring top country music artists, amusement rides, and musical reviews. The advent of Dollywood helped to shift the country music scene to Sevierville and several excellent country music clubs opened up which featured up and coming stars along with big name talent.

The best time to visit this Micro cache is during the evening hours of weekdays or on weekends as there is less traffic in this area during non business court house hours.

The cache is a logbook contained within a small ALTOID'S STRIPS tin, bring pen or pencil to sign. Be stealthy on this one.

A give away hint is provided if you wish to use.

**Take notice of the Dedication to Sevier County Veterans also on the court house grounds**
