Geocache Description:

This cache is placed 2.5 kms NE of Verwood in Dorset. It is in the heart of the forest so be prepared for an enjoyable outing.

The cache is accessible to both walkers and mountain bikers, but families with buggies might have difficulty especially if you come in from the east.

The cache itself is only 3 paces off the hard track.

In the vicinity of the cache are two tumuli (round barrows). There are about 2000 tumuli in Dorset. They date back to Neolithic/Early Bronze Age and were associated with the burial of the dead.

Tumuli come in five types and can range in size from 3 metres to 65 metres in diameter and between 0.3 metres and 6 metres in height.

Estimate the size of the 2 tumuli close to the cache. No prizes are given.

There is parking in a variety places around this forest.
