Warren's Ponds Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Lactodorum: Hi ,

I have just had to archive your cache at the request of the landowner - The Forestry Commission.

You may or may not be aware that there is a formal agreement in place for geocaching in forests controlled by this body.

In order to place a cache you have to apply for permission using a form to be found here: http://www.geocache.co.uk/ Just look for the Forestry Commission section and download the form in .DOC or .PDF format.

Once you have completed this form please return it by e-mail to me at lactodorum@gmail.com and I will submit it along with a map to the people concerned on you behalf. Once permission has been granted I will then be happy to reinstate your cache.

Many thanks, Lactodorum.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

A nice walk through Warren Heath Wood, along well defined paths. Paths can be muddy in places and waterproof footwear is recommended. Cache is a black ammo box containing the usual goodies and a camera - please take a photo to record your visit.

Warren Heath Wood is situated between Eversley and Hartley Wintney. There are a number of access points to the Wood and the cache can be found by keeping to well defined paths until the last 50 feet or so.

There is a short route of approximately 0.6 mile. Limited parking is in Springwell Lane (off Hare's Lane, off the A30 at Hartfordbridge) at N51 18.966 W000 53 815.

Our preferred (longer) route to the cache starts at Eversley Church where you can park at N51 20.550 W000 52.891. The church itself is worth a visit. Charles Kingsley (author of 'The Water Babies') was vicar here between 1844 and 1875.
Your next waypoint is N51 20.007 W000 53.328. To reach this, you should walk down the lane past the graveyard following the yellow footpath arrows. At the end of the lane at Artlett's Cottage, turn left along the footpath.
After a short walk, you will reach a plinth.
You can now follow your GPS but we do recommend that you keep to the main forest tracks/paths. They will take you to the cache site eventually (honest!)
