Geocache Description:

Take a hike! A loop trip in Burham Brook in East Haddam.

Coordinates above are for parking. Park near the gate on Dolbia Hill Road and enter the Preserve. There is a sign- in log. Please note that the trail markers are sparse. Keep an eagle eye out so that you stay on the trail! No bushwhacking please. Stay on the trail until you are close to the cache. There are ongoing field studies here. For example, Yale is doing a study on Lyme disease, so do not tamper with any markers etc. (and bring the repellant) The coordinates for the first part are N 41' 27.505 W72' 19.711. Locating this will give you the the final cache coordinates. There is a nice erratic boulder along the trail. Cachers should note that there have been about 180 species of birds identified here. This is nice oak forest with some hemlock and wetlands areas. There is a plaque near the brook recognizing one of the land donees. The hike is perhaps a mile and a half long.
