Located in a park in Bellbrook, Ohio on Little Sugarcreek Road (just off St. Rt. 725). This is a dual letterbox/geocache, so letterboxers, bring a stamp pad!
This cache is placed in accordance with Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Park District resolution 40-04, and is granted permit #001.
The site for this cache lies in a small but picturesque park. There is a shelter area, grills, and swings for the kids. The cache should not be too hard a find, with only minor bushwhacking necessary. It is placed in a standard ruggedized-cache-hiding-utility-container.
Rumor has it this park is haunted, thus, it's name.
One of the park's ghostly inhabitants, a man named James Buckley, built a prospering sawmill in the 1800's just minutes north of here along what was then called Possum Run Creek (now Little Sugarcreek). Wealthy from his business at his mill, he became a target for thieves, and was ambushed on his way into town to deposit his monthly earnings from his long hours of hard work at the mill. Travelers located his decapitated head at the spot of the ambush - the rest of his body was never found. Legend has it he continues to walk the banks of the creek to this day, waving his arms in vain, in search of his head, and his money...
Maybe, just maybe, with the aid of your trusty GPS unit, James will approach YOU for some help...
Be sure to check out the other ghosts rumored to haunt this park by reading Chris Woodyard's "Haunted Ohio" series, available at your local library.
Oh, and if you happen to spot James, be sure to drop me an email...
