Geocache Description:

Bayfront Park, home of 4th Fest, the Blues Fest, and other assorted events.

This one will take some math. Nothing TOO hard, just mostly trial and error. I wanted to make something that was a little 'different'.

If there is a large event at the park you'll have a very hard time doing this, and it may prove to be impossible.

Believe it or not, I've lived in Duluth all of my life and never have been here. Been close, but never walked these grounds.

The entire cache course is located in the park. This is a good cache for the family but watch the kids when you get close to the water, especially the slip.

The coordinates of the final container are:
46° 46.abc
92° 06.xyz

You will be given five numbers to use. You may use each number only once. To find abc, add some of the clues together. To find xyz, add the other clues together.

For example, abc may be clue 3 + clue 1 and xyz may be clue 2 + clue 4 + clue 5. Naturally this isn't the correct combination, so you'll have to figure out which combination is. Trial and error and maybe some educated guesses....

CLUE 1: As you walk around the blacktop path in a circle, count the big green hummin' things on the inside of the circle. Don't count the ones outside of the circle. Don't count them if they aren't green. If they are touchin' then they count as one. They don't need to be hummin' at the moment you're there to be counted. This number, times 38, is clue numero uno. If you're unsure what to count, go to 46° 46.641' 92° 06.153' to see some examples.

CLUE 2: Find the container at 46° 46.702' 92° 06.189'. Count the rings. Multiply this number by 15, add 13, then divide by 16. This is your second clue. If you get a whole number then you're correct (and I'm amused). If you don't, then you're not correct.

CLUE 3: I had to change this clue as the city, in their infinite wisdom, removed the lights that the original clue referred to just days after I created the cache. The new clue still will produce the same result as the old clue, so if you've done part of the cache already you'll still be ok. Head to the stage area. See the huge concrete posts holding the steel up? How many doors do you see total (in all of the posts)? Multiply this number by 30 to get clue number 3.

CLUE 4: Count the stars and multiply by 6 and subtract 4. This is clue four. The coordinates of the stars have already been given to you somewhere here...

CLUE 5: When you stand at 46° 46.654' 92° 06.210' (but not in the water, silly), you'll see some moorings across the way. Count 'em up. Only count the ones ACROSS the water, and make sure you count all the way down to each end. Failure to count correct will mean failure to find the container, and we don't want that, do we? Take your total number and multiply by 16. This is your last clue.

NOW, there's lots of room for error here, so I've provided some additional math so that you can check your work.

Clue #2 times Clue #3 should evenly divide by clue #4. (ie.: (Clue 2 * Clue 3)/Clue 4 = a whole number ).

All 5 clues, when added together, should equal 905.

The container is very small and black. There is no room to trade anything of size. I tried to leave a very small TB in there as a FTF prize, but I couldn't make it fit. It doesn't require acrobatics to get to, nor does it require you to leave terra firma. Heck, it doesn't even require you to leave the park area!

This is my first cache of this type. I'm very open to feedback, positive or negative. You can leave it here on the page, or you can email me through my profile.

The cache isn't meant to be easy. It's meant to make you think and work.

The hints below will give you some basic help, but overall they won't give you much. Please don't give away anything in the logs, even if it's minor or you don't think it will help future finders.
