Pest inspector came over to our house and noticed the geocaching.com sticker on the back of my car. He'd just gotten a GPS unit and was interested in caching so asked me about it. We got to talking about spots around the area and he mentioned going up the bluff to watch the sunrise (or was it sunset).
He told me where he parked so I headed out there that evening to check it out. Sure enough, there was a trail over there. A perfect spot to place a cache and hopefully a good welcome to the hobby for the bug guy.
Trailhead is at: N 46º58.776 W 123º47.889
Trail is about .26 miles. All switchbacks or simply straight up. I wouldn't suggest this for small kids because there are a couple of spots where there is no shoulder for the trail so it's a bit of a drop along a hill.
At the top you'll see a warning sign. Heed this sign. It's a pretty quick drop. You'll also see a gravel trail running along the bluff. It goes west about 200 feet and then dead ends. Not sure where it goes east.
Find the cache. Enjoy the view.
