Washington Square Traditional Cache

mindseye: Well... here's how I see things.

This cache disappeared due to one of three core possibilities.

1) Death by muggle.
2) Death by rogue geocacher.
3) Death by landscaper.

Option 3 is unlikely, since this cache has lasted a couple years without disappearing.

If it was a muggle, they will likely be back to see if this gets replaced so they can get their hands on more shiny toys... and then history will likely repeat itself.

If it was by a rogue geocacher, they probably weren't aiming for the Jeep travelbug... or else they could have taken it and been on their way without removing the whole cache. The likely motive in this case would be to eliminate the cache itself; if so, they will likewise be back should this get replaced... and then history will likely repeat itself.

Occam's Razor strongly suggests this cache will disappear should it be replaced. Therefore, it shall not be replaced... unless someone else wishes to deploy their own geocache this park.

I'll open the opportunity for someone to do so, if they desire.

Admin: please archive this cache.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Microcache located within a small park in downtown Dubuque, Iowa. Park hours are from 7am to 10pm.

Cache container is a 4" x 3" x 2" M258A1 (decon) container (be sure to reseal the lid tightly for waterproofing), unmodified. The cache is currently log-only, because once again I was too absentminded to bring a small pen or some trinkets. So, until I get my head out of my cache, bring your own pen or pencil for logging.

Due to nearby residences and businesses, discretion will be necessary.

Coordinates were quite drifty when the cache was planted, but the landmark to be searched should be obvious. Post coordinates if yours are significantly different from mine. The first hint will give away the location without really giving away the location (it will serve as confirmation for those who give the site a look). The hints which follow will be more of a giveaway.

This small park is rich with history. Be sure to check out the various plaques and memorials.
