Geocache Description:

This multi-cache is located in Silver Hill Technology Park, in Newark, NY. It’s a long one with some steep hills. It took us (with a 5 and 7 year old) about 1½ hours to hike the cache trail and feed the geese. Your job is to find 4 jewels used in making jewelry, and then the final cache (ammo can). Make sure to bring bug spray and lots of bread to feed the ducks, geese and HUGE catfish.

Many Newark residents still call the park by it’s old name, Sarah Coventry, which was the original owner of this property. The Sarah Coventry jewelry company was founded in Newark, New York by Charles H. Stuart in November, 1949. He named the company after his granddaughter Sarah. This propensity of naming companies after family members he had started earlier in naming the Emmons company after his wife Caroline Emmons. Emmons Home Fashion started marketing jewelry in 1948 and the Sarah Coventry brand was established the following year in November, 1949. Emmons and Sarah Coventry did not design or manufacture pieces themselves, but rather contracted with third parties for designs and outsourced their manufacture mostly in the Providence, RI area. Sarah Coventry had a Lifetime Guarantee- the cards stated “may be sent back for repair to: P.O. Box 7899, Warwick, RI 02887. Please include handling charge of 1.50”. Sarah Coventry jewelry was sold at “fashion shows” in people’s homes until 1984, when the company was sold. In 2002 the jewelry was once again available on the Home Shopping Network, and in 2003 they resumed selling at home parties, bringing the company history full circle.

Directional Help:
On your way to the starting point, follow the path in front of the FLCC bldg. and then head up the grassy hill to the right. On your way to the third cache stay on the trail until you see the path going down the hill. On your way to the final cache, head right, around the pond.
**Update** This area is now the home of the Finger Lakes Community College Wayne Campus Center and is bound to receive more traffic. Please be aware of muggles in the area.
