Geocache Description:

Deep in the heart of the Needles district of Canyonlands National Park lies towering Druid arch. In its shadow a smaller, more common formation is easily overlooked...

The Druid arch hike is one of the best trips into the Needles area. It can be done as a long day hike (8.4 miles one way, beginning at Squaw Flat A trailhead) or great overnight stay options abound, such as nearby Chestler Park. Shorter hiking but longer driving (4x4) is possible from the west. The hike goes over some amazing country, with great views in every direction. It can be very hot, and although water is commonly found in the last canyon before Druid Arch, PLAN ON BRINGING PLENTY OF WATER. The desert is beautiful but unforgiving. At the waypoint, notice the cairn at the waypoint which is designed to look like its larger "father." To get credit for this cache, take a picture with yourself and both the cairn and true arch in the same shot. If for some sad reason the cairn no longer exists, you must re-create Druid arch using small stones as seen in the attached picture. Also include in your log your comments about this amazing country.
