Easy walk except for the last 65 feet, dogs allowed so bring them along. In season Bug spray a good idea. Parking coordinates for this Cache are 40 05.410N 083 46.884W Approximately half mile to cache. Alternate parking is at 40 04.191N 083 47.231W about 1 mile to cache.
This cache is on the Simon Kenton Bike Path, so it is an easy walk except for the last 65 feet. Dogs on leashes are allowed. Simon Kenton is buried in Urbana and is famous for not only being a friend of Daniel Boone but also of living with the Indians most of his life. He was known as Blue Jacket and there is an outdoor drama during the summer in Xenia telling his story. At the start of the trail it also runs along side of a railroad which has an interesting story. According to legend this rail line is haunted by a ghost train-President Lincoln's funeral train which passed through Urbana on its way to Illinois. It is said on or about April 27th at midnight the ghost train passes by stopping clocks and watches and sending chills down the spines of anyone near the tracks. The entire story is in the book Haunted Ohio by Chris Woodyard. Depending on the time of day you will see a variety of wildlife. This bike path is normally very busy so be careful when stepping off of the path that you are not observed. The Cache is aproximatly 65 feet off of the path but should be hidden by brush cover spring through fall. Quite a lot of water along the path so bug spray or long clothing in season would be a good idea. Have not seen any yet but always keep your eyes open for poison ivy. Cache is a 50 cal ammo can, beginning contents besides the log book is: Key chain calculator, two rawhide dog bones, deck of cards, Bob the Builder crayons, magnetic memo pad, flag pencil, new toothbrush, childs ink stamp, small photo album, geocache compass, and a Wind in the Willows collectable, along with four travel bugs.
