Geocache Description:

The Snag is a familiar land mark to folks in the city of Hoquiam. It can be seen high on a ridge to the east of town, and is especially visible from the northern parts of the city.

Turn north on 22nd street and go up Beacon Hill Drive, just beyond the end of the pavement.

Park at: N46*58.837 W123*51.886

The nearby gate and property belong to the city of Hoquiam. The gate and property are posted. I have spoken with Mr. Parsons, the Director of Public Works for the city. he has kindly granted permission for geocachers to walk around the gate and across city property to the trail during daylight hours.

The Hoquiam police have also been contacted and have been given a draft of this posting. They are aware of what we are doing, have no problem with our activity, and will expect to see cars parked here from time to time. Just be honest if you are approached. (probably won't happen)

JUST DO NOT APPROACH THE WATER TOWER ! ! !

So, go around the Public Water Works gate. Walk up the hill about 250ft, turn right near the power pole before you get to the tower, and cross over the cement blocks. You are now on the trail, it's about an 8/10 mile walk or bike ride on an old road bed. A couple hills, but you've been on steeper ones. Local joggers and bikers have used this trail for years.

The container is a black ammo can with a few goodies I have picked up. You may find something you've seen before. Plus a special item for the first finder. The signal was a little weak near the cache, but the hint should get you there.

Put on the insect repellent, you're gonna need it.

REMEMBER ! ! ! STAY AWAY FROM THE WATER TOWER ! ! !

If you feel uncomfortable crossing the posted property, there are other routes. But they will test your mapping skills and require a longer and much steeper hike. This is by far the easiest route.
