College Cache #1 Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

slackjawedyokel: Picked up all the stages today. The questionable stage was indeed inside the moved fence. Rather than wait, or change up the cache, I just decided to archive it. This was a fun cache that survived for quite a long time. The school knew it was here, and left it alone. I went over a few times to remove it in the past, but it was always in such good shape, I just couldn't bring myself to take it down. Given the amount of DNF's and Needs Maintenance logs, I figured it would be best to let another cacher have a go at this beutiful campus. We had the place to ourselves this morning as we collected all the stages. Once again, they were all in fine shape and exactly where they were supposed to be. I hope someone else places a cache here, as it is full of great places to see. Tree groves, great gardens, fountains, statues... plenty of places to hide a cache. Sorry to the few cachers that were in the middle of hunting this one.

Geocache Description:

The first set of coordinates is not the final cache.

This is a six stage multi-cache that will give you a tour of a beautiful college campus. For some of the steps, you will need to locate coordinates, and for others you will need to use your navigational skills. The small caches leading to the final cache are luggage tags (cache #1 is a small tube) that contain information/clues to each successive cache. The final cache is an ammo can.

When we placed this cache, we calculated the overall distance traveled (from starting point to final cache) at just under 2 mi. The total time for placing it was 1 hour and 15 minutes. It would be wise to give yourself plenty of time, dress for possible muddy and prickly encounters, and bring a compass, pen and paper to collect the clues and information from cache to cache. You will almost certainly encounter muggles, so subtlety will be necessary.

To begin:

  1. Follow the coordinates to the visitors' parking: N 40° 11.854' W 075° 14.054'
  2. Follow the coordinates to the beginning of the multi-cache: N 40° 11.834' W 075° 14.215'
  3. Project a bearing of 70° at a distance of 370 feet.
Navigate (walk) there by following a bearing/heading (Hint: Utilize features of your GPS unit, projecting a waypoint, following the heading, or use a compass.)
  4. You have arrived at the first cache location. Locate the container providing direction to the next location (it is different from those containers in the picture).
  5. From cache location project bearing & distance provided in cache.
Navigate (walk) there by following a bearing/heading (Hint: Utilize features of your GPS unit, projecting a waypoint, following the heading, or use a compass.)
  6. You have completed the first step to finding the second cache. Position yourself at high noon. Walk forward 22 paces (adult paces). Turn right, and walk another 22 paces.
  7. You have arrived at the second cache location. Locate the container providing direction to the next location. Follow coordinates provided in cache to the third cache.
  8. You have arrived at the third cache location. Locate the container providing direction to the next location. Follow coordinates provided in cache to the fourth cache.
  9. You have arrived at the fourth cache location. Locate the container providing direction to the next location. Follow coordinates provided in cache to the fifth & final cache location.
