Description
This cache was supposed to be found by Susanne on 15/05/04, a few days after she became old enough to (nearly) call herself the 10th incarnation of pi. Since she successfully completed that task and found her present, this cache can now go public; and Susanne can look forward to a long weekend in Venice. However, the co-ordinates above are not the cache location, they not even indicate a possible starting point. Well, you could technically go there to calculate the initial co-ordinates, but it wouldn't help you any. It shouldn't take any longer than half an hour to find this two-stage cache, so it's perfectly suitable to be done even after extensive celebrations.
Stage 0: no coordinates
(At a place of your choice)
To find the co-ordinates of the cache you first have to determine your present whereabouts, find a place to sit on and calm your mind.
Then start thinking.
Susanne is born in the small hours of May 5th. Let yourself surprise by the fact, that clouds don't exist, and now calculate how many sun-rises she saw on the day the cache was hidden? Yes, she knows when the sun rises and has no problems getting up early. Let's call the result a.
Once you found the result, start breathing again, get up, walk around for a bit and sit down again. Try to calm yourself for the second part of the calculations.
Now recalibrate your internal timezone so you find yourself back on New Year's Eve 2003. Due to mysterious circumstances and fluctuations in the spacetime continuum, several text messages were bounced back and forth between Susanne and her then-not-yet boyfriend. A day later the situation changed. How old was Susanne on that fine day, while watching the yearly New Year's concert, given in days. Add 1 to the result and call it b.
Now for a few calculations:
- A = (a * 199 + 171) / 10
- B = (b + 18778) / 1000
Stage 1: N 47°04.A', E 015°B'
(A building with an interesting shape)
Interesting architecture, isn't it?
Let's see how the object is shaped. It's got quite a few corners, I'm afraid, but they are all built up from geometrical shapes.
Of how many hexagonal objects (by looking at the ground plan of the building) is that building made up, not counting the stair case? The result here should be called c.
Some more calculations:
- C = b / 3611
- D = 322 * c - 3 * a
- E = (b + 42) / 375
- F = ((b * (c + a)) / 12 - 1) / 5 + 17
Stage 2: N 47°C.D', E 015°E.F'
(The cache)
The cache is a small glas jar with a white lid. It is covered with foliage to avoid being found by chance.
Please try to avoid being seen while taking and hiding the cache as this is a rather frequented area, especially on weekends.
The co-ordinates point to the original location of the cache. Now look a bit more to the South at a not too unobvious place.
