Geocache Description:

My first regular-sized cache, open to premium members only for the first month, in the Lake Merced area of San Francisco.

A convenient hide just off the well-travelled path around Lake Merced. From the cache site, you can hear frequent "bangs" from a nearby location -- especially on a weekend day -- as well as the songs of many types of birds. Its up to you to choose which to focus on while you hunt for the cache.

The cache itself is a largish plastic storage container that started out with some items that represent places I have lived. I'm happy to be back in the SF Bay Area after a decade and a half at these locations, and this cache sort of commemorates that fact. Please take care not to trample the vegetation, and be very stealthy if hunting during prime jogging hours.

There is a camera in the cache -- so feel free to be creative with your photos, just make sure that you let me know in the log that you have used a frame. Other starting items include a new red and white lanyard, San Diego Map, a San Diego Neuroscience button, a New York Liberty pin, a recent SF Zagat's guide, new University of New Mexico koozys, and an Iowa pig pen among other things. I've also included what I think is a great FTF prize, considering the resources a geocacher uses in this hobby.

Enjoy the area -- both visually and auditorily!!

Edit 8/4/04: Cache has been re-cammo'd and rehidden in a very different way about 300 feet away from the original site. Coordinates, ratings and hint have been updated to reflect the new hide. Please make sure you replace it exactly as you found it, and double check that it cannot be noticed easily. This is a well-used area, but hopefully far enough away from the beer-drinking, bridge-urinating, pitbull-loving hangout.

Since this is essentially a new hide with different cammo (well any cammo, really, as compared to the original hide), I'll allow anyone who found before 7/30/04 to log a second find on this cache if they would like to.
