Geocache Description:

Located in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

This is a long multi-cache treasure hunt. It encompasses much of the Grande Prairie park system, and I think it will take an adult most of a day to solve it. I have test walked it and found it took 3 hours to complete without mistakes or searching for containers. I would not recommend bringing children unless you plan to solve it over a few days or use wagons, strollers, packsacks or other such devices. Older children should be able to handle it if on a bike (helmets are mandatory in Alberta). Bring a bike lock as you will need to leave it for short periods of time. Some of the trail system is gravel/dirt but it is groomed and easy to ride/walk on. There are plenty of rest benches along the trail to stop at and take a break, and maybe think about the information gathered during the quest.
My recommendations:
1) Bring a water bottle. (With something to drink of course, its not part of the quest.)
2) Bring a lunch or snack unless you plan to stop and buy one.
3) Bring extra batteries if your GPS uses them quickly.
4) If your sense of bearing is un-reliable, bring a compass.
5) Bring a metric ruler or measuring tape, it is needed to complete this quest.
6) Bring a small knapsack or fanny pack and a reliable pen. They will come in handy for solving puzzles and carrying clues. Always wear bug spray in the summer!
7) Because this trail system is used be many people, especially during the day and extensively on weekends, it would be wise to bring a set of binoculars or camera. Not only can you take a picture of the wildlife but I guarantee that at some point, someone will see you while you’re off the trail and wonder what the heck you’re doing. That is when you start acting like a bird watcher. Pull out your binoculars or camera, a sheet of paper and your pen and say, “Did you see where the little yellow bird went?” If you pull this off properly it will save you a load of time explaining. A lie is always easier when it is loaded and ready. If you already have a good one, by all means go ahead and use it. Never pull out a container if someone is around. I would still do a little searching but if I find it, I always wait until the coast is clear before approaching and opening it. Though most people really do not care, showing passer-bys the location just begs for vandalism.
8) If you do this quest with a large party of people, please pick someone to search out the containers and leave the main group on the path as lookouts. Take turns to keep it fair, or as is always the case, one person becomes an expert (meaning willing to get dirty) at this and using him/her will really speed things up. This way the party can distract passer-bys and it also limits the trampling around the cache hiding spots.
9) Never linger around a clue container. Grab a clue sheet and return to the path. Clue sheets do not need to be returned to the containers, just leave them at the treasure chest when you find it or bring them home. The last location where the treasure is stored is hidden very well on a less used part of the path, and everyone will be able to approach and search without being seen for extended periods of time.
10) Finally, be sure to read everything carefully, have fun, and contact me with comments, positive or negative, and I will try to improve this geocache as much as possible.
Good Luck!

FTF prizes were: Guys- a small treasure chest full of real money ($25 in coins, enough for geocaching premium membership) and Girls- another small chest with real 10k gold earings and some assorted costume jewelery. Unforunately these were the only two items related to the Bandits Treasure and they have been found, I think.
