rcav8r: I'll plant a new one this spring, under a new name and slightly different location. It'll still be a hard one in the summer though! :)

Geocache Description:

In major city park. Terrain is overgrown, requires a bit of bushwacking at the end. Can get muddy! Don't forget the bug spray.

The Stoughton Travel Bug house, is naturally, a TB house. If you take a bug, please leave a bug, but its not required. Its more important to get the bug(s) moving to where they want to go. Log it and move it, no need to trade anything for a Travel Bug. There are also the usual cache items. Now the nitty gritty on the ratings. The trail is overgrown, and long pants, long sleeves, and good shoes or boots are recommended. So is bug spray. Not a good one to do on a humid day. Oh, and you need a good sense of balance. Really Really good. This is on city park property, so no problems with getting around. You can park at N42' 54.644 W89' 12.870 for the shortest access. If the park is closed to vehicles (Jr. Fair for example) or busy, try N42' 54.556 W89' 13.119 and see if you can find the trail that starts in the corner of the lot.

On a maint. visit on 8-22-04, I discovered that a tree has blown down across the trail and the creek mentioned in the hint. DON'T USE THIS TREE FOR THE HINT. The hint in question is a a few yards further down the trail. You need to step carefully through the branches of the recently fallen tree because of the undergrowth.
Also added a can of bugspray and calamine lotion for those who didn't heed the warnings!

A bit of history...When you park at the recommended (first) spot, you might notice a large rectangular, raised area of ground. For many decades, A family would erect a roller skating rink in this spot during the summer. Covered with a canvas tent, you could really work up a sweat, even with the sides rolled up. Skating to hokey pokey, simon says, and other hits of the 70's (when I went). It was the place to be for preteens and a few high schoolers who didn't have wheels yet. They even had a old fashioned type travel trailer for skate rental and repair, food service, ticket selling, PA gear, etc. Great memories for those who were there then.
