Geocache Description:

Park at the main parking lot and head straight up the hill. The hike is about .40 of a mile with an elevation gain of 500 ft. You can also get to it on a Mt. bike from the main parking lot. Go west past the cabins toward the top of the sundown lift, from there head up the lightning ridge trail. This way is quite bit longer and at the top you will still have .30 to go on game trails or across open ground with no trail but at least it's fairly flat.

I've patrolled at Powder Mountain for 20 years now and this has got to be three of my favorite chute runs. This area use to be out of bounds and accessible only by hiking. Now a cat can take you to the top. Many people think of Powder as being a cruiser mountain with great backcountry powder skiing. If you know where to go however, it also has some gnarly chutes that will stand up to anything you may find at other big mountains. This area also has some of the best views on the mountain. This cache is accessible when there is no snow on the ground. I'll check my placement in the winter; you may still be able to ski right up to it. The cache is located on a rock outcropping that may stay exposed when the snow falls.
