This cache is located about .25 mile below the point where the Stone Canyon Trail meets the Mt. Lukens Road.
Several members of the Montrose Search and Rescue Team have been fairly active in locating geocaches in their spare time. We decided that it would be fun to place our own cache during one of our recent training hikes. We began our hike at the Wildwood picnic area in Big Tujunga Canyon. This is where the Stone Canyon Trail begins. From here, it is about 3.5 miles (all uphill) to the Mt. Lukens Road. We placed the cache just off the trail about .25 mile before you reach Mt. Lukens Road.The container is a tupperware-type, and is not too large (about 5" x 5" x 6"). It has a Montrose Search and Rescue Team Sticker on the lid, and is hidden from sight fairly well. One of the purposes of our team is to promote wilderness and hiking safety. Lukens Road, and up to the antenna farm where we located the "Up On Sister Elsie's Antenna Farm" cache. After a brief rest we hiked down Mt. Lukens Road to a trail that followed the east ridge down into Dunsmore Canyon and ultimately into Deukmejian Wilderness Park...all-in-all about a 9.5 mile trek.
