This cache is designed to help you learn how to use your GPS in
a way you may not have before. You will first need to find the
MCDANIEL benchmark which is at the coordinates listed for this
cache. You will then need to project a waypoint 145 feet away at a
bearing of 155 degrees.
“How do I project a waypoint?” you might ask. The first step is
to read through your GPS manual. Some models have this feature
built in, and it will be quite easy if that is the case. If your
GPS does not have a waypoint projection feature you can still find
the cache. Most GPS units will let you take a bearing. While
standing on the waypoint take a bearing of 155 degrees, look in
that direction and find a spot along that line to walk to. Repeat
until you are 145 feet from the benchmark and you will be near the
cache.
There are two other caches to find along the way, plus the
benchmark. There are many trails in these woods, so you might want
to mark a waypoint where you park. I recommend the parking
directions for Dragon’s Breath cache.
There will be ticks, poison ivy, mosquitos, etc. to dodge. Wear
your favorite brand of deet so that your energy can be saved for
hiking instead of arm waving. There are many wildflowers in this
area, please be careful of the environment.
The cache container is an ammo can, please hide it well. After
setting up the cache I projected a waypoint as described above and
it put me within five feet of the cache. Please NO SPOILER
INFO in the logs, thanks for understanding.
