Geocache Description:

Local legend says The Eagles’ song, “Seven Bridges Road”, was inspired by this stretch of Texas Highway 11 between Hughes Springs and Linden. There may be a grain of truth to the legend as Linden was Don Henley’s boyhood home. Henley still takes a great deal of interest in the old hometown, supporting local civic projects with his time and money.

This is a four-stage cache laid out along the 15-mile route of Texas Hwy. 11 between Hughes Springs and Linden. Enjoy the rolling hills and mixed pine and hardwood forests as you drive along this part of the Texas Wildflower Trail. There is adequate parking area on the shoulder of the highway for the first two stages, and off-road parking for the third and final stages.

The final stage is located at the east end of the Seven Bridge Road in the old Linden CCC Campsite near the Music City, Texas Theater. You’ll see the sign at the entrance to the camp. You may park there for the third and final stages.

As always when geocaching in forest areas, be especially watchful for snakes and poison ivy! We have Water Moccasins, Copperheads and Rattlesnakes, all of which are best enjoyed from a distance. The Rattlesnakes are protected as an endangered species (don’t you just love it?), but you are welcome to kill as many Water Moccasins and Copperheads as you like.

The first two stages are magnetic key holders, each with a stash note and coordinates of the next stage. The third stage is a decon container with a stash note and coordinates of the main cache.

The final stage is an ammo box with suitable goodies.
