Oh, the Places You'll Go! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

MadMin: I attempted to contact the owner of this cache to find out about the status of this cache on May 10th 2006. I have received no response from the owner on the cache page or via email. Because of that I'm afraid I have to archive this cache.

If you would like to replace it and have it reinstated, please contact me through my profile.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page places it through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

Located at the Quadrangle in Downtown Springfield.

Come visit this site dedicated to Dr. Seuss.

Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to the world as the beloved Dr. Seuss, was born in 1904 on Howard Street in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Cat in the Hat, perhaps the defining book of Ted's career, developed as part of a unique joint venture between Houghton Mifflin (Vanguard Press) and Random House. Houghton Mifflin asked Ted to write and illustrate a children's primer using only 225 "new-reader" vocabulary words. Because he was under contract to Random House, Random House obtained the trade publication rights, and Houghton Mifflin kept the school rights. With the release of The Cat in the Hat, Ted became the definitive children's book author and illustrator.

At the time of his death on September 24, 1991, Ted had written and illustrated 44 children's books, including such all-time favorites as Green Eggs and Ham, Oh, the Places You'll Go, Fox in Socks, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. His books had been translated into more than 15 languages. Over 200 million copies had found their way into homes and hearts around the world.

Memorial is open daily 9a.m. to 8p.m. The museums are open Wednesday through Friday noon to 4p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 11a.m. to 4p.m. Fee for the museums is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and college students, and $3 for children 6-17. Parking is free.

As of 22 May 2005 the cache is a magnetic altoids tin painted black. There is no writing utensil so bring a pen. There is a disclaimer/log to sign.

Alternate log method: Sign log and/or post a picture of you with GPS in hand sitting in the chair in front of the giant book. This may help to get credit if there is a group of muggles or no way to sign the log.

(text about Dr. Seuss was taken from www.catinthehat.org, please visit for more information.) Happy caching.
