Geocache Description:

Tupper container just across a small inlet used to be the Lost Rabbit boat launch, it's now a new marina under construction. See updated coords, original location got bulldozed.

As we all know, the original Lost Rabbit cache has fallen to the high dollar development of the "Town of Lost Rabbit" on the 200+ acres known as Lost Rabbit. I placed this cache on a thin strip of Reservoir property between the bank of the Rez and Natchez Trace land...an area that will be unaffected by the development. Lost Rabbit was a special cache to me personally as it was my very first find and was less than a mile from my house. The original offered a nice stroll through the woods and a grand view of the Reservoir, as does this new cache. Please access cache by way of the Trace or by boat, as the Lost Rabbit area is no longer public land. The West Florida Boundary area is the best place to park on the Trace as it will get you to within .4 miles of the cache.

Why the name "Lost Rabbit"? I've been told from an elder co-worker of mine native to Madison county that a group of kids (high school age that were peers of his) camped out in the area years ago. One kid brought some frozen rabbits to cook but they never cooked them as they couldn't get them to thaw. The next morning, a critter of some sort had hauled off with the rabbits...and the rest is history. He also tells me that the Madison county kids used this area as a weekend hangout until the Jackson kids took over, at which point they moved there gatherings to some land on the other side of the bay...today known as "Found Rabbit" after the name given by these kids. Anyone with opposing or additional info, please let me know as this is just here say.Large ammo can and contents formally used for "Submerged Trace-Found Rabbit"-thanks to SD and BC for the can.
