This is a theme cache located near Barker Field (an off-leash dog park) in Dogwood Dell. Given our namesake, it was inevitable that eventually we'd have to do one of these and now seemed like the time! If you've not guessed by now, Barker Bonanza! is a cache primarily for four-legged caching companions. We've stocked it initially with dog toys and would ask visitors to keep to the theme. However, please don't leave treats, chews, rawhide, or other canine edibles as these both deteriorate over time and may draw other animals to the cache.
We strongly advise against bushwhacking to this cache. A fairly well-maintained trail will literally lead you to within arm's reach of the cache. The area off-trail in this area is rife with poison ivy and we searched for a good while to find a safe area for the cache. Also, since it is so close to a trail--and this is a fairly popular park--please take care in rehiding the cache as you found it (or better!) to preserve it from accidental discovery.
