Lake Minnetonka Leech Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

deetylong: Well, I think it's time to archive this one.

Funny story though, about it's final ending. BigSwifty, the final finder had brought the cache home with him as I'd asked, and I contacted him to arrange I time we could meet to give the cache back to me.

Long story short, I told him I'd be in the area on a certain day, and he said he'd be very close to where I was, so he'd bring it to me. Turns out he was attending the same family reunion that I was! He's my second cousin!

It's always amazing how small of a world Geocaching can make it seem, but this tops them all for me. Thanks much to BigSwifty, and everyone else who did this real hard one. It takes something extra to get your head wet for any cache!

Geocache Description:

A challenging cache on the BOTTOM of Lake Minnetonka

Cache is a large micro. It is a black plastic container inside a modified small bright yellow paint can. There isn’t really room for trade items, but there are a couple of tiny goodies for those who are interested. The micro came from the “Purdue Parasite” cache in Central Pennsylvania.

This cache is intended to be a SCUBA cache, but it was put inside the paint can so that it can be retrieved with a string and magnet. My dad also thinks a swimmer might be able to get it, but I don’t think so. There are orange bobbers attached to the container, so you should be able to spot it when you get close (if you’re under water).

The log sheet is wax paper to help with the moist environment, but is not waterproof. The cache is meant to be removed from the water before being opened. The cache and pens are not waterproof. Also, please tighten the lid of the plastic container extra tightly before sending it back down to the depths.

This cache is certainly experimental. I’ve painted it with several coats of outdoor paint to fend off rust, but if you find the cache is in very bad shape for some reason, you may take it home with you and e-mail me about the problem. I’ll try to make a better cache once I know what kind of problems crop up.

I hope you have fun trying this one. I’ve had lots of fun putting it together.

The encoded hint may be very valuable to you.

PLEASE be very careful to replace the cache in exactly the right place. It is hard enough to find as it is.
