Geocache Description:


This is the first cache placed by our family. We put it within a location that we believe to be very beautiful yet not heavily traveled. There are several locations where you can park before setting off exploring for this cache. We’ll list two:

    Parking Location #1: 37°01.912N 122°02.507W [topo]
    Parking Location #2: 37°02.403N 122°03.804W [topo]
From parking location #1 it’s about a half mile hike to the cache. From parking location #2 it’s a little over a mile. Be sure to plan on locating other cache’s within the area that will, in turn, help you decide which parking location is best for you.

I found that reception wasn’t too good from several different approaches to the cache. However, approaching from the high ground I had better luck as opposed to being down by the thicker canopy of the burl tree. That said, you will find areas of coverage along the way to the cache - take those moments to get a fix of where you are and where you need to go. You will also get some coverage around the cache location.

Before heading out we encourage all of you to take a map and compass with you. The map will help you identify trails to take to the cache site, and others. The compass will help you orientate the map if necessary. This will also be of some comfort when reception fades away. [map] [how to orientate]

The cache location can be accessed from a minor trail that branches off a major one. You can get hints about the specific cache location below if needed. The last hint is spelled backwards for those that want hints without seeing a full on spoiler (i.e., the last hint).

The cache container is a decent size ammo box that is not in plain view.
