8/17/05: Maintenance check. I found the ziplock bag from the old
location, along with some toys, but NO ammo box. I moved the cache
to a new location in the wayside and placed it in a NEW ammo
box.
In tribute to the dying breed of waysides. We will miss you. Please
go to Waysides Series for a complete listing of all
the waysides in this series and an explanation.
Taking a trip along "interstate" 29? Stop by and visit this old
fashion wayside. It's less than a mile north of 29 on the North 45
exit. I don't believe Hwy 29 has any waysides or rest areas going
across the state.
Combination Historical Marker and Wayside. Has an outhouse and a
hand water pump! Want to have fun with the kids? Tell them to put
their mouth down to get a drink, you pump and cover up the end of
the VERTICAL pipe that comes down from the box with your hand.
Practice first without the kids around to see what happens.
This is a kid friendly cache. Parents can wait in the meadow. No
stealth is required. You can take the camo ammo can to the park
benches and play with some of the toys before returning it. Check
out the historical marker before you leave.
Initial cache contains bear plush toy, weird windup toy, child's
picture frame, nascar mini puzzle and new flashlight.
I like to listen to WFCL AM 1380 when I travel this part of the
road.
Going north from this point? Stop at N 44 55.977 W 88 12.257.
It's where I get gas. The people are nice and the coffee is
free/donation.
Going north from this point? Slow or stop at N 44 59.426 W 89
12.262 and take a picture with someone's head in the mouth. Post it
here. Good luck explaining to the little kids what the building
behind is for.
Going north from this point? Stop at N 45 10.348 W 89 08.733 and
check out the white critters. I travel this road often with
teenagers and they also enjoy this stop.
First find goes to R&R Wanderers from
Clintonville/Shawano, WI on 6/19/04. Thanks!
