Geocache Description:

East of Gallup,NM. Near the top of the Pyramid Trail. This steep trail passes through stunning sandtone canyons and formations (some of which you may find to resemble ancient Egyptian landmarks).

This cache is found along the Pyramid Trail that starts in Red Rock State Park near Gallup, New Mexico. Follow the signs to the Pyramid Trail parking area which is located past the arena and horse stalls.

As you make your journey up to the top of Pyramid Rock you will pass by some balancing rock formations that sort of resemble the Sphinx and camels. When you see these you are getting close to your goal.

Click on the "User's Web Page" link near the top of this page to visit my website with photos of the trail.

The "sarcophagus" is a tupperware container about 8"x5"x5". This is an absolutely first class trail and a round trip to the top of Pyramid Rock is 3.4 miles. It is fairly steep but well marked.

Cautions: Be sure to take water, especially during hot weather. Also, I have seen Prairie rattlesnakes in this area so please keep your eyes open.
