COKE OVENS CACHE Traditional Cache
DoubleDecker: Really hate to archive this one, but vandals have gotten it twice. Look for it soon as a part of a multi. Thanks to all who did find it. It's a great piece of PA. history.

Cache is located @ the historical coke ovens in Broad Top
Township,just off Rt.26.
The 48 brick, beehive coke ovens were once a part of a much larger
iron making industry. They were constructed in 1913. The declining
Broad Top area coal mining business, followed by the scraping of
the Huntingdon & Broad Top Railroad, helped bring down the
curtain on Riddlesburg's iron producing industry in 1943. Be sure
to check out the bulletin board, done as an Eagle Scout project,
for more info on this site. The coke ovens are now owned by the
Broad Top Township Supervisors who gave permission for the
placement of this cache. The cache container opening is about 1" in
diameter. Bring SMALL items for exchange. There is a nice prize for
the first two finders. NO climbing is necessary to reach this
cache. Parking is close, but so are lots of curious eyes. Have fun.
Keep on caching! The one with the most finds wins!!!
