Geocache Description:

This cache is difficult only because you are required to not only take a ferry out to an island, but to backpack your gear to a remote campsite and spend a minimum of one night on the island as well. Not for the faint of heart!

This is the third in a total of eight caches related to the Manitou Islands in the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lakeshore. Not far from the trail, you should find another piece of island history. Besides being a prominent lifesaving station, the island has worn many other faces over the years. One of those is represented in this area. If you look closely (BEWARE of the poison ivy!), you might find the remains of a building or two, not to mention some of the products produced here.To log this cache, post a picture of you, your GPS, and the appropriate signage to prove you achieved your goal. Feel free to post any comments about the trek to the location. Be frank – don’t hold back!
